Who is Saint Cloud?

So according to MSN Virtual Earth, St. Cloud, Minnesota doesn't exist . I'm serious. Check it out for yourself!

This got me to thinking about a question I was asked a decade ago* when I moved to St. Cloud: "Who is Saint Cloud?"

I never had an answer. "It's not a real saint" people would say, but they're wrong. The original Saint Cloud can be found in France, near Paris.

"The town is named after Clodoald, grandson of Clovis, who is supposed to have sought refuge in the hamlet of Novigentum. Canonized after his death, the village where his tomb was located took the name of Sanctus Clodoaldus."
