I've been mulling over the idea of tent versus hammock. My trip will begin in February '06 and it is reasonable to expect sub-zero temperatures regularly for the first couple months. Four-Season tent cons include weight and setup time while pros include warmth. The hammock has accessories that improve winter warmth capabilities, but have not been thoroughly researched by myself. The most prevailing pros to a hammock are unlimited campsites above the snow, incredible setup & takedown simplicity & speed. I am going to buy one hopefully sometime in early 2005 before the snow is gone.
